It’s that time of year again: Herring spawn is happening in Howe Sound! Please take care when walking shorelines especially at low tide as herring eggs are extremely delicate and are often found on exposed seaweeds, kelp and eelgrass.

So far Slhawt’ (Herring) spawn has been identified in the intertidal areas of the Squamish Estuary and nearby shorelines. If you find eggs in other regions such as Bowen Island, Gambier Island, the Sea to Sky corridor and Sunshine Coast please let your local conservancy know.
