Description
Something that always amazes me about Atl’ka7tsem/Howe Sound is the ever-changing colors. How is it possible that the same mountains and the same islands can be so completely different moment to moment, day to day, year to year. The lighting and the weather, the ocean and the animals. The people who make this remarkable place home and live out their lives on it’s majestic shores.
In this painting we see first light as the sun creeps up in the east and kisses the edge of Keats Island. A hazy morning in early autumn provides soft purple hues in the mountains of the Sunshine Coast, while Gambier sits in shadows and awaits the sun’s warm light.
