New Painting: ‘Evening Calm in the Pasleys’

IMG_9691

Peaceful purple seas surround as the summer sun sets to the west, casting a golden light in Howe Sound. The Pasley Islands are ideal for collecting those calm rippling waters in the final moments before sunset. Catch the angle just right and you can see clear up Howe Sound to Mt. Garibaldi in the distance. Terrestrial refraction often brings in the light from Garibaldi, making it appear larger than it is. This painting was inspired by those calm evenings floating around the Salish Sea waiting for the sun to depart us for another day.

The Pasley Islands are located off the west coast of Bowen Island, in beautiful Howe Sound, British Columbia. They consist of 5 main islands: Pasley, Worlcombe, Hermit, Popham and Little Popham. Worlcombe is located to the right in the painting with the main island of Pasley and smaller island of Mickey farther away to the left.

hi. I am forgetting where you’re located. This picture interests us – wondering how we’d go about seeing it, before someone else snaps it up? or maybe we could “try it on for size” and then decide if we’ll buy it. thanks.

Love this painting, very calming indeed! The cool colour palette and soft contours of the islands are wonderful.
