A huge thank you to the local art lover who won ‘Sunset Solitude’ (8″x8″ acrylic on canvas) during the Bowen Island Arts Council’s Mini Gala. The winning bid was $375! BIAC’s annual fundraiser went out with a bang on Friday night when they auctioned off over 50 mini canvases bringing in over $10,000 for the non-profit gallery.
The winning bidders say the painting reminds them of a prominent Howe Sound scene: Passage Island with Bowen Island and the Sunshine Coast in the background. ‘Sunset Solitude’ was inspired by these very islands and the calm waters that surround Bowen in the still moments after the sun has set. The colors are cool and reflective- mirroring our own thoughts as we look back on our day and wonder what tomorrow might bring.
